It’s Just a Typical Day at Work

[Note: All pics taken with the Canon 10D.]

What do you do when you walk into the office on Monday in mid-summer and see that your cube is strewn with winter? Well, take a look at what Walt, my coworker, did when we messed with his cube. The occasion: the old man had just finished yet another (what is it now, ten?) Ride of the Rockies. So, what? You ask. Well, let me tell you this: they had to close part of the route, Trail Ridge Road, because there was nearly a foot of snow up there. That means Walt got to snooze for a day on a gymnasium floor in Estes Park. I’ll let Walt tell you the rest of the story. My part is just to show these here pictures and tell about the aftermath.

We are done. Ellen set up the icicles, snowflakes, snow, and streamers. Patt supplied the holiday décor. Julie came up with the banner. Judy supplied snowballs. The rest is history.

Walt arrives at work and sits right down at his desk with a sigh. How’s he going to read his manager’s comments on his doc plan now?

Walt figures it out with aplomb! He gently removes the redlined doc plan from the new fallen snow, and rests it on top. Hey! It is even at the perfect angle for viewing through bifocals!

Walt is taking this all very well, considering he biked hundreds of miles over the course of a week in the rain, snow, and sleet (don’t think there was any actual hail), wishing he had become a mailman instead of a technical writer, for surely they get less weather…

Walt actually still likes us after all we did to his workspace, his haven among the rows of grey walls and the rise of green carpeting. He actually smiles at his coworker Judy. Even though he has known her for a very long time…..
